Are you conditioning your hair correctly?

Apr 14, 2023

Conditioner is something we all use daily, but how to know if we are using it correctly? Too much can make fine hair lank and greasy looking, while too little can leave your strands parched and prone to damage.

Here are our top tips on nailing your conditioning routine.

The Right Amount To Use

The amount of conditioner you need will depend on the length and thickness of your hair. As a general rule of thumb, a 10cent piece amount is usually enough for most people. However, if you have thicker or longer hair, you may need more. On the other hand, if you have fine hair, you may need less. So, start with a small amount and work your way up as needed.

When applying conditioner, make sure to focus on the ends of your hair first. The ends of your hair are usually the most damaged and in need of moisture, so they require extra attention.

Work the conditioner through your hair, from the ends up to the roots. Avoid applying conditioner directly to your scalp, as this can make your hair look greasy.

Once you’ve applied the conditioner, let it sit on your hair for a few minutes to allow it to penetrate the hair shaft and work its magic. This is particularly important if you have dry or damaged hair, as it will give the conditioner enough time to work its way through your strands.

When rinsing your hair, be sure to use cool water. This will help seal the cuticles of your hair and lock in moisture. Rinse your hair thoroughly to ensure all the conditioner is removed. However, if you have very dry or damaged hair, you may want to leave a small amount of conditioner in your hair to provide extra moisture.

What about leave-in conditioner?

For added protection, you can always use a leave-in conditioner like R&Co Pinstripe detangling spray. This product can help detangle your hair while also providing extra moisture and protection. Apply it before drying your hair, and you’ll be good to go!

Conditioning your hair is an essential part of any hair care routine. By following these simple tips, you can give your hair the moisture and protection it needs to shine and be beautiful.

Don’t forget to pamper your hair every now and then with a conditioning treatment too – it deserves it!
